Welcome to Mary Spotter's world! This is the first chapter of Mary Spotter and the Philosopher's Pebble!
When Mary Spotter was a baby, Lord Moldywart changed her life... forever. Mary narrowly avoided the killing curse of Lord Moldywart and nearly destroyed the dark lord. But, her parents weren't so lucky. They are currently in the care of the Wizard Witness Relocation Program. It wasn't until Mary was 6 that she learned she had special powers. After watching her parents make things fly across their hospital room but never could do it the same. Finally though, Mary found that she could do it after all. One day on the playground, Mary got mad at a mean boy named Raco Falfoy. When Mary said "You are so mean to me Raco Falfoy!" and jerked her head to the other end of the playground, he flew across the grass and landed by the swings. It all came to Mary in that moment, if she blew a little at another person and jerked her head, they would go anywhere she wanted them to. For years she practiced with toys (and sometimes Raco) until Mary found she had mastered her unusual skill. After exactly 4 years, Mary was lying in her bed on the eve of her 10th birthday when a bald eagle tapped at her window sill. This was rare. Bald eagles didn't just cone to your window every night. She opened the window and took a piece of parchment from his beak. "A letter!" Mary whispered. Upon opening it, she found it was a letter from Fox Featherings school for the
Magically inclined and gifted (MIGS). So she was special!
